News flash: I finally caved in a got permanent hair extensions, freaks.

After toying with the idea for two years now (you know, because these kinds of superficial decisions require A LOT OF TIME, ENERGY AND SOUL SEARCHING, duh), my sister-in-law invited me over to her house to get my locks sewn in by Hungarian hair-ess Veronika of cri-stylemiami.com. Veronika uses a system called the European micro knot method which entails no heat and no glue. Read: No damage. It’s a rather new method and not that common here in the States, FYI.

The whole process took about 3 hours and costs $250 for the service and $300 for the actual human hair — so it’s not exactly cheap but I love having long, wispy pieces so I’m all about it.

My only grievance? Extensions require a lot of work. Oh, and did I mention my head physically hurt for two days after getting them put in? It’s nothing a little Motrin can’t fix, though. And sometimes, my scalp is itchy. I’m just putting it all out there in case you were wondering.

But there are definitely mores pros than cons — I mean, look at those tresses! Veronika tells me my hair should last 4 to 5 months before she’ll have move the hair up again toward the roots — and I won’t have to buy new hair as we can use the same bundles over and over again. And I haven’t shed, which is an added bonus. Also, the extensions curls waaaaay better than my natural hair and never get greasy which is pretty amaze.

Hello, Pantene hair!

I know about that extension life all too well! you’ll get used to it but its definitely an investment. I’m rocking my short (real) hair for now until my hairstylists comes back from maternity leave 😉

What happens if you go in the pool? Could it damage the extension?
