A Statement Necklace and Statement on Never Giving Up

As you can see, my face is visibly absent from this post because I was literally crying moments before these photos were snapped. Talk about embarrassing! In other words, I looked like a runny-mascara mess. You see, it was parent’s night out at my daughter’s new school and I was so excited and got all gussied up only to find out my sitter got a last-minute flat tire (or concocted a the-dog-ate-my-homework fabrication — you do the math).

So the tears poured down because I was sad. And pissed! I wouldn’t be able to chat with Ava’s new teacher, her new friends’ parents and all the fun stuff that comes with being a parent.

Luckily, the husband was able to leave work early and another sitter swooped in to save the day.

And all was rainbows-and-unicorns once again. I chose to wear my new bought-on-Etsy Dolores Petunia statement necklace (woohoo to first-time wears!) and some jazzy flats because I anticipated some walking around the picture-perfect campus.

The moral of the story? I was down. But the moment I was about to wash all the makeup off my face and slip into my PJs in defeat, the wonders transpired — the husband and backup sitter rolled into my driveway. You know, I read a quote on a special someone’s Facebook wall today that said, “The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens. Don’t give up.” And yes, that sage nugget resonated with me today. I’m sure it will ring true with you one day, too.
