Locket Love

Show me a cute locket and I’m all over it like Miley Cyrus on a wrecking ball.

So when I spotted an Origami Owl Living Locket on my friend’s Instagram feed, well, I ordered one for myself (pictured above) and one as a birthday present for a gal pal. The dilly? You can fill the locket with little charms that give meaning to your life — like a birthstone, a dog’s paw, a child, a ladybug, a suitcase and the list goes on. The options are endless! Me? I chose a flamingo (symbolic for Miami), a lipstick (for beauty blogging), a diamond ring (for a strong marriage), a van (for infinite travel), a heart (for being a mom) and a cross (for God’s protection).

The even cooler part? After a little Googling (because I’m a professional cyber stalker. Duh), I discovered the creator of this brand, Bella Weems, founded the company at age 14 (she’s now 17) with the dream of owning a used car. That desire set in motion a chain of events that led to the Arizona teenager spearheading what is now an estimated $250 million dollar enterprise. I mean, don’t you suddenly feel like an underachiever?
