My sister in law shared this smash burger recipe from Baked By Melissa with me (love her Instagram!), and while it doesn’t look pretty per se, it tastes good good. I like to keep this dish gluten free by using Siete foods almond-flour tortillas, but you can always use regular flour ones, of course. Here goes:
INGREDIENTS
1 package ground chuck
Siete food tortillas
1 finely chopped onion
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Cheddar cheese
PREPARATION
Smash a thin raw hamburger patty into the tortilla. Season exposed burger with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Press chopped onions into seasoned patty. In a pan, use olive oil and cook tortilla side first for 3 minutes making certain you don’t burn the tortilla. Flip and heat the exposed patty until cooked through. Pressing down with a spatula helps, too. Top with ketchup, mayo, lettuce, cheese — whichever fixings you love!
