I’ve spent my adult life regretting the fact that I plucked my once bushy eyebrows into barely-there arches when I was in college.
You’ve no doubt heard of microblading, the semi-permanent solution to sparse brows that creates the illusion of hairs on your skin. But have you heard of powder brows? Powder brows, also known as ombre brows or ombre powder brows, is a slightly newer semi-permanent brow technique that creates a soft, powdered look that subtly fills in your brow.
Five years ago, I microbladed my brows and the hue faded away to a pink-ish tint (sigh) so I sought out Miami’s best semi-permanent makeup professional and paid her a visit today: Ana Botero of Browlash Studio. Estonia-trained Ana tells me she prefers powder brows over microblading because she wasn’t happy with the long-term results of microblading. And I have to agree.
Powder brows with Ana takes about 2 hours where brows are shaped, mapped out and filled in. The first passing of the tattoo device feels a wee bit painful but on the second and third passing, Ana applies numbing cream making the entire process completely comfortable. I almost fell asleep at times. No joke. Ana tells me I will need a touch up in 6 weeks (then a touch up every 8 months to a year) and there is zero down time (just keep them dry the day of service). The color will eventually fade to a light brown if I do not touch them up. The cost? $650.
The end result? Defined but still soft looking eyebrows. I am OBSESSED with how natural they look. It’s so important to note I paid for this service in full after much research into semi-permanent makeup professionals in Miami and this is not a sponsored post… just pure love!
