All You Need To Know About Eyebrow Microblading

Want to give your pals eyebrow envy? Yeah, that’s a thing. If you’re anything like me, you yearn for Cara Delevinge-like bushy yet shaped eyebrows. And while on this get-gorgeous quest — you pencil in them in, tint them or even tattoo them. The latter being a scarier option because it can look un-natural and is permanent (um, scary!)

Enter the newest trend in enhancing those eyebrows — Microblading also known as 3D brows. The 411? Microblading is a semi-permanent new way to create a more natural eyebrow shape with implanted pigment that looks like natural hair. The application is performed with almost pain-free (thanks to numbing cream — my left eyebrow hurt more than the right) scalpel-like tool and takes about one hour. The result is subtly defined hair strokes — not a blended, filled look — that lasts for 18 months.

So where can you score this natural looking technique? I went to the Eyebrow Doctor Piret Aava. With a nimble hand, Piret works with each client to design the style, shape and color best suited to each individual. After the pre-drawing and numbing is complete, Piret artfully etches hair-like strokes into the skin, creating a beautifully natural brow. Piret tells me I have to come back in four weeks for a touch up and that’s included in the $1,500 treatment.

Sayonara, brow pencils. Hello, WOW brows.
