Woah. I’ve been in a creative funk (womp, womp) and yesterday’s Ladies Who Launch event snapped me right out of it! You see, their Founder Aileen Lavin asked me to moderate a talk with former Vogue Mexico Editor-in-Chief Kelly Talamas de Rilliet and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity spend the day soaking up knowledge and meeting more girl bosses. Because… I’m a sponge and this is how I learn. And I find that doing things out of my comfort zone (like talking in front of room overflowing with brainy women) is both scary and enlightening. Emphasis on the latter part…

So being in a space full of female (you go, girls!) designers, lawyers, stylists, photographers, marketing pros, bloggers, real estate pros, business owners and more was SHEER MAGIC.
For those of you not-in-the-know, Ladies Who Launch is a networking community for women entrepreneurs in Miami. We spent the morning and lunch discussing a myriad of business-savvy topics but Kelly’s key takeaways were as follows:
Communicate your business — use social media as a tool. Oh, and make sure your Instagram is on point.
Changes always come at the right moment.
Learn to delegate and give your team ownership… don’t be a control freak!
Know your audience/customer.
It’s totally okay to wear the same outfit a zillion times. In fact, it’s chic and environmentally responsible.
Support local and emerging talent.
Scoring that dream job takes a lot of hard work. And grit. And gumption. And late nights at the office.
Always be nice!
