Change is in the Hair

{I did it! Panem would be proud.}

Ever since I wrapped up The Hunger Games series a looong time ago, I’ve been dying to dye my hair purple à la Effie Trinket. If you haven’t read the tween trilogy, well, get crackin’ and if you have, just picture me saying, “May the odds ever be in your favor!” Anyhoo, I’m a big believer in signs and several have popped into my life saying, “Stop being a wuss and just do it, Wordy Girl.”

My main concern was not ruining/damaging my hair and not channeling a fairground stripper (I stole that gem from an Elton-John-on-Madonna rant). I’m also a mom and want to set a classy example for my kids so often times, I feel a tad constrained by certain trends (like, belly baring shirts are so not happening for me).

But then I saw pics from the latest Chanel fashion show and my imaginary bf Karl had ALL the models sporting colored hurrr…and ding, ding, ding…if Karl gives purple hair the chic stamp of approval then I’m all over it, naturally.

With my stressors in mind, Colombian cutie Natalia at Salon Vaso suggested I place purple-dyed extensions in my hair for a subtle look. That way, once I’m “over it,” I can just take ’em out. And if the husband hates ’em, I can yell at him, “It’s NOT permanent. Relax, dude. Take a chill pill.”

And there you have it, my cyber children. If you, too, really desire a questionable trend but are too scared, there are always ways to make it work. So just do it already!

    Love love love it!!! Way to be courageous. I think it rocks and thanks for giving me the motivation to take a risk…I’m cutting my bangs! I’ve wanted them for weeks and have been hesitating. Now bangs are literally haunting me in every picture, every ad, and every tv show and I hear them chanting “just do it!”
