Yoga, meditation, Klonopin, running, deep breaths, copious cups of Cakebread wine — I’ll dabble in just about anything to chill the fuck out. So when I caught wind of this new stress-relieving thing called adult coloring books, well, I drank the Kool-Aid.
Yep, chasing anxiety (um, the bane of my existence) is child’s play with trendy new coloring books for grown ups. How does it work? Well, coloring inside the lines requires focus without deep thought, which can be a natural stress reliever.
Once I start coloring (my kids have joined the revolution, too!), I do find that I begin to forget my worries, daydream freely and feel more creative, curious and relaxed. Give it a whirl and enjoy the curiously colorful results, my fellow worry warts.
