Yumi Kim jacket

Weirdo alert: While I love vintage clothing, I’m totally creeped out by buying clothes worn by other humans. Buying someone else’s cast-offs gives me a maj case of the heebee jeebees. Blame my OCD and all that, but I can’t help but feel as though when I score something from a thrift store, I’m also inadvertently buying imaginary scabies, bed bugs and hepatitis.

Tragic and silly, I know. I blame my husband.

But here’s the thing: I can always score the vintage look (sans ficticious lice!) with pieces by designer Yumi Kim. Way before the vintage look was fashionable, Yumi took her mother’s old shirts and revamped them by cutting and adding trimming to each piece. In 2004 Kim created her eponymous line, a brand inspired by vintage prints and silhouettes…with a touch of funk and urban femininity — minus those ringworm-laced phantom feelings.

I’m an avid vintage shopper and that sequins jacket is amaze balls. Sorry, but the way you put it, doesn’t steer me away of al the amazing ideas I stealed from vintage and thrist shopping lol.
