When the husband divulges the burning desire to go to London to catch the Rugby World Cup to root for Argentina, well, you say YES (with the disclaimer you won’t be attending any actual games, of course). So that’s precisely what we did this past weekend.
It was my second time in Londontown however this time, I was given four splendidly sunny days with chilly temperatures. We were generously hosted by the May Fair Hotel, where the rooms are decadently decorated with rich velvets and green hues and the food was FIRE. Order up the lobster bisque and thank me later, mmkay? And seeing as the May Fair is nestled smackdab in the middle of the London’s financial district, the eye candy (think dapper blokes boasting pocket squares) didn’t hurt either.
By day, we walked for hours and explored the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden and Green Park. Hand in hand, we strolled alongside the Thames River — it was all so romantic and sweet — truly. I recollect making out a few times, too…ha! TMI, I know. I keep it real here.
While the husband attended the rugby matches, I hit legendary Harrod’s and Bond Street for some goodies. I wound up buying a cognac-colored Mulberry bag for myself, a few artsy crafts for the kids from the coolest toy store called Hamleys and a Chanel tie for my main man.
I was fortunate enough to have a few friends in town (Marysol Patton and Nepo!) where we boozed it up at a spate of posh restaurants such as The Ivy, The Wolseley and Scalini. At Scalini, I had the pleasure of meeting Ladies of London‘s Baroness Caroline Fleming and she is so so sweet! And jaw-dropping gorgeous. And she has the most amazing, luminous skin — which made me regret the four bottles of sauvignon blanc we guzzled earlier in the day. #BloatFace
All in all, I’m a huge fan of the U.K. Here’s to hoping Argentina makes it to the Finals so we can hop on a plane and go back for part deux!
You made out….lol
