Look and Feel Fresh this Social Season

Now that summer is fast becoming a fond memory, most of us are looking forward, past the bleak month of November, to the start of the festive party season. December will inevitably be a whirl of social gatherings, work parties, family visits and letting your hair down, with most of us having a big New Year’s Eve bash at the end of it all.

With so many sociable occasions coming up, now is the time to make sure that you’re looking your best, feeling confident and full of energy! Why not use dreary November to focus on investing some time into making sure you’re looking and feeing fantastic? Here’s how:

An Exercise Plan
If the party season usually comes round with you wishing you felt a little more confident in your outfit then now is the time to make sure that this year you feel amazing. Four weeks is long enough to see a difference, and your energy levels will also improve. Fit in three or four exercise sessions a week for best results, and try to keep it varied. Jogging is great for quick results and is, of course, free, whereas swimming is a great choice when the weather isn’t brilliant. You can pick up swimsuits and bikinis from George at ASDA for just a few pounds, and Decathalon Stores are great for affordable running trainers and sportswear.

Health-Boosting Foods
Give your body a break between summer BBQ’s, booze and ice creams, and the inevitable overindulgence of the festive season, by choosing fresh, health-boosting foods for November. Seasonal fruit and vegetables should form the basis of your meals – you’ll find a wealth of great recipes online –  and fresh fruit smoothies, natural yogurt and nuts and seeds make great snacks. Giving your body a chance to ‘detox’ will see you full of energy and glowing from the inside out.

Pre-Party Season Prep
We all want to look our best for Christmas and New Year parties, as well as for the endless family photos that will be taken during get-togethers, so now is the time to start putting in the groundwork. Using conditioning hair treatments and face masks will have skin and hair looking its best, and don’t forget to moisturise and exfoliate to get your body looking tip top in slinky party dresses.

Time to Relax

Taking time out to relax before the Christmas rush is essential, so make sure that you set aside plenty of ‘you time’. Exercise kills two birds with one stone, especially solitary pursuits like swimming, running and yoga that will clear your head. Or simply relaxing with a book can be enough to leave you refreshed. You should also make sure that you’re getting enough sleep as late nights can quickly take their toll.

Get a Head Start
Doing as much as you can in advance of the party season will free you up to actually enjoy it! For example, present buying and card writing can all be done in advance, and getting the house ship shape will leave one less thing to worry about. November is a great time to declutter and do a deep clean before the decorations go up.

The month of November gives a great opportunity to get a head start on your party season prep, so that, when the festive period is in full swing, you can enjoy it to the max.
