My Go-To Salon in Miami

Ya’ll KNOW I take my hair seriously. My obsession with good hair can be traced back to my college years where I was introduced to a cadre of Cuban girls who taught me the many splendors of a solid blowout (it’s all about a round brush and serious wrist action). Fast-forward to today and I have this gnarly patch of grey hairs FRONT AND CENTER on my hairline so I get monthly dye jobs because:

  1. I’m psychotic
  2. I love fresh-color-and-cut feels. Le duh.

Anyhoo, a lot of you have been asking me where I get my hair colored and cut in Miami so here goes… for color I go to Erica Quince and cuts with Billy at IGK Salon (photographed above).

IGK has three salons — New York, Los Angeles and Miami. The Magic City location is nestled in the Design District and exudes a cool Cali vibe replete with pink neon lights. Sure, it’s pricey but lots of salons in Miami can’t nail blonde quite like this spot. For whatever reason, my color ultmately turns brassy but not here at IGK. I always ask Erica for balayage for natural-looking highlights. I never touch my roots because I hate the streaky skunk look on moi, ya feel?

Also, I’m a big fan of Clairol Shimmering Lights purple shampoo in between color jobs to keep my blonde tips from turning red. And now you know.
