(That Standard Hotel vibe tho}
And we’re back in Miami! Thus today’s jaunt to my good ol’ stomping grounds at The Standard pictured here. I recently spent the past weekend in Washington, D.C. visiting my big sister, Vivian. I traveled with just my daughter Ava for a much-needed mother/daughter getaway which proved to be exponentially rewarding for our relationship because:
A) Nothing says “brownie points” for mama like a shopping spree at the American Girl Doll Store…NOTHING. Not even a macaroni and cheese dinner with a side of Spongebob. And 165 brand spankin’ new Shopkins.
B) I’m a much more relaxed/enjoyable/fun/agreeable/groovy human being when given the task of parenting one child in lieu of two (it’s a scientific fact — swear. Google that shit).
C) After exploring the White House, Smithsonian Museum, Washington Monument & Lincoln Center, bonding with my big sis and introducing the progeny to a living, cantankerous Madagascar Hissing Cockroach…well, I feel like Ava is now a wiser, happier, more cultured soul and that’s awesome sauce.
*Imperative sidenote to all meanie internet trolls: I realize I do not have “thigh gap.” This chick has a strict “no Photoshop” policy because I like to keep it real here. So buzz off and take your cyber bullying elsewhere.
