With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I always take part in Fashion for a Cause — a philanthropic endeavor where 30 of us South Florida Fashion & Beauty Bloggers join forces to raise funds for Breast Cancer. This year, we teamed up with Miami-based brand Peace Love World to model their breast cancer collection which donates a proceed of sales to raising funds for breast cancer (thanks, guys!). To peep the campaign, photos will be on display at Bloomingdales in Aventura Mall and The Falls Shopping Center till the end of the month, where you can also buy Peace Love World. On October 17 from 6 to 9 p.m., you’re invited to come out to our Fashion for a Cause Campaign called Bloomies and Bloggers event where real runway models and bloggers will hit the catwalk in Peace Love World and the department store’s Fall collections. Plus, there will be a hair styling station by So Blo, cupcakes by BunnieCakes sips by Societe Perrier Us & More. Follow our FB page to get more 411.

And now that I’m 36 (The National Cancer Institute recommends that women age 40 or older have screening mammograms every 1 to 2 years), I’ve just made my appointment on October 16 for my very first mammogram. I’m slightly terrified but seek solace in the fact that early detection of breast cancer with a mammogram means that treatment can be started earlier in the course of the disease, possibly before it has spread. That’s powerful stuff!
