Get Fit For the Cure…I Did!

Did you know 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size? Um, yeah! And after my experience with Wacoal Fit Specialist Gabriela at Macy’s — well, you can group me in with that 8-who-just-didn’t-have-it-straight. That is until now!

You see, I’ve always worn a 34B, but as it turns out, I’m a 34C (which totally explains all my past tugging and discomfort). So how did Gabriela figure out my correct size you ask? She…

  • Took two measurements of my bust with a measuring tape — much like a tailor. For accuracy she always measures under clothes, not over.
  • Made sure the band was tight enough to support me, but loose enough to pass a two-finger test
  • Conducted a “spill check” to make sure I fit into the cups without spilling over the tops or sides.
  • She also made sure none of my breast tissue was hitting the underwire. This is an indication the cups are too small which leads to a lot of the discomfort women commonly face with underwire styles.
  • From the front, she made certain the center piece lays flat against me without buckling. From the back, she made sure the band layed flat and straight.
  • She asked me those all-too-important words, “Are you comfortable?” which was a resounding YES!

And voila! The winning bra is photographed at the very top above — the Embrace Lace T-shirt Bra in Natural Nude/Ivory with matching bikini bottoms!

Gabriela put me at ease in the fitting room and we had lots of fun getting to know each other. Because of my off-the-shoulder blouse I wore that day she also suggested Red Carpet Strapless which fit perfectly and seriously stays put all day! I also tried on Bralettes, their new Lace Affair collection for sexy days and everyday T-shirt bras. The best part, it only took 15 minutes!

You too can get a professional bra fitting by a Wacoal Fit specialist this Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Macy’s Dadeland Mall for a great cause! At the Fit for the Cure event, Wacoal will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for every free bra fitting — and another $2 for every bra or shapewear piece purchased. I will be making an appearance from 1 to 3 p.m. so come hang with me!
