Diving Into Swim Week

While the mere thought of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami gives me heartburn (it’s the one weekend my day job becomes nightmarish with midnight deadlines, densely written story assignments, non-stop reporting — all the while sweating like Chris Brown in a courtroom. But there’s a palpable energy of fashion legitimacy in Miami during this special time, so I’ll take it.

Every year, I take part in the Escape Miami campaign where we bloggers band together to promote the Miami style lounge which takes place on Saturday, July 19 from 12 to 4 p.m. at The National Hotel.

This year, I went for a decidedly American Apparel-esque theme because I fell in love with this Filles à Papa message swimsuit which I recently spotted on Net-a-Porter while summer suit shopping. As a mom heading toward her 40s, I felt like shooting something edgy and outside of my comfort zone and  — voila! — this happened.
