For That Pilates Body… Go Here

If you follow me on Instagram stories, you know I incorporate Pilates into my weekly workouts — one to two times a week. My fave studio in Miami, you ask? The Pilates Place in the MiMo District. Nestled next to Soyka restaurant on Biscayne Boulevard you, too, can give core-strengthening Pilates a whirl here with my fave instructors Adriana, Bettina, Chelsea, Jackie, Luis and Neice.

“Pilates exercise focuses on posture, stretching muscles and it’s gentle yet effective in terms of losing inches,” The Pilates Place Co-Owner Jackie Weiner says. “Clients can expect lean, defined muscles — and won’t bulk up,” she adds. Pilates advocates say they’ve seen improvements in their range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength — and decreases in back, neck and joint pain. Me? When I have a consistent practice, I appear leaner, tighter and feel less lower back pain. I do notice my stomach muscles turn to mush (wahhh) the moment I stop taking classes.

The ambiance at The Pilates Place? Think comforting and quiet. Exposed ceilings, wood floors and large windows create a sunny and warm space. The studio houses top-of-the-line wooden Reformers as well. No janky machines here!

Weiner’s easy-going yet informative nature will have you taut in no time. She’ll also teach you how to pull your stomach in and pull your shoulders down when home — creating heightened body awareness outside of class. The end result? Improved posture, balance and a toned body. Brilliant.
