IT Girl Stats: Caroline Guthrie

Meet this week’s IT Girl, kids. This is here is Caroline Guthrie, a Miami gal gone New York. As the Assistant to Tory Burch for the past 5 years (read: dream fashion job), Caroline galavants all over the globe (Korea! Japan! China! The Netherlands! Italy! London!) alongside Tory whom she describes as, “The best boss I could have asked for — she’s been dealing with me since I was a very inexperienced 22-year-old! I’ve watched the company grow into a huge success over the past few years, and Tory has been amazing at balancing everything. She has remained herself and has same priorities as she did in the beginning, which is really admirable.” Caroline is sister to Lauren Nepo and a St. Thomas-goes-Ransom-Everglades-FSU-UM-graduate. Enjoy getting to know her as much as I have.

Name: Caroline Guthrie
Location: New York, New York
Occupation: Assistant to Tory Burch
Current handbag: Balenciaga Papier A4, because it fits everything
Jeans: Rag & Bone Zipper Capri. I love skinny jeans but I hate the ones that get bunchy around the ankles, so I look for the ones with the shortest inseam.
T-Shirt: Marketees V-neck. They are so soft, perfect length, and aren’t painfully expensive.
Swimwear: Eres (major splurge) or Shoshanna — the prints are so cute.
TV Show: New Girl — Zooey Deschanel is so hilariously awkward. I also have a weird obsession with crime shows like Dateline, 20/20 and Snapped…I can spend an entire Sunday watching them.
Mascara: Urban Decay Cannonball Waterproof — anything else gives me raccoon eyes by 11 a.m.
Foundation: Benefit You Rebel Lite Tinted Moisturizer.  I have seriously tried them all.  I’m still looking for the one that is going to make me glow like Gisele.
Eyeshadow/liner: Tarte Emphaseyes inner rim pencil in brown, it stays on all day.
Lipstick/gloss: I carry about 6 different ones in purse, but I love The Balm BalmShelter in Pin Up Girl and Clinique Air Kiss — a regular since high school!
Blush: Smashbox Blush Rush in Bare for Powder and Paula Dorf Cheek Cream in Peek a Boo for cream. I need a cream one that isn’t too pigmented — I am pale and heavy-handed which can be an ugly combination!
Bronzer:  Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base — it’s creamy but blends really nicely. I use it with my Beauty Blender sponge.
Shampoo: I like to mix it up. Right now I’m using Oribe Shampoo for Color treated hair.
Conditioner: I love Pantene Beautiful Lengths Shine Enhancing conditioner. It smells so good and makes my hair soft!
Hair product: Blow Pro by Blow, great for volume.
Salon: Marie Robinson, NYC. Marie is amazing with blondes.
Nails: Whatever place I happen to walk by on my way home from work.
Polish: OPI’s Passion or Essie’s Pillow Talk.  I only wear sheer colors.
Body moisturizer: First Aid Beauty Body Moisturizer.  I like that it doesn’t really have a smell because scented lotion and perfume can be totally overwhelming.
Face wash: Tata Harper Refreshing Face Wash and Laura Mercier Face Polish (only twice a week because it’s a serious scrub).
Facial moisturizer: DDF Ultra Lite Moisturizing Dew
Eyebrow shaping: Eliza at Eliza’s Eyes
Fitness: Physique 57. I seriously did not work out from the time I graduated college until a year ago when I started physique.  I love it And walking around the city — it burns more calories than you think.
Athletic wear: Lululemon head to toe. My friends like to say I’m sponsored by them because I look so ridiculous.
Lunch spot: My desk. we usually get Chop’t or sushi delivered.
Dinner: I know New York has every restaurant you could ever want, but I am devoted to Houston’s/Hillstone.  It never gets old and it’s close to my apartment
Sweet spot: Treats Truck — they have everything and it’s all homemade
Dessert: My sister’s pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting, she uses Paula Deen’s recipe
Last meal on earth: Christie’s Caesar salad, tossed tableside! New York strip steak (medium rare), baked potato covered in sour cream. Wash it down with a Ben and Jerry’s cookies-and-cream milkshake.
Travel: I travel a ton for work, and I have to say my favorite place so far has been Tokyo. The energy there is amazing.
Fun fact: I never wanted to work in fashion, I went to school to be a family therapist!
For my birthday, get me: A gift card to Barney’s…I am picky, let me buy it myself!
