{Smile…being bitchy will get you nowhere. Fast.}
I really dig this photo of me taken last week by photographer Jipsy Castillo for one reason: It truly captures my essence. People often ask me why I’m so happy and glass-half-full-ish all the time and the truth is, I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m trying to remain present and just be where I am.
And you should, too.
Yes, I know this is a fashion blog and all, but often times, I find myself at odds with what to and what not to post. Time and again, I find myself yearning to write about deeper topics with no relation to fashion and feel, well, tied back.
But not any more — thanks to a recent conversation with a reader who told me they connected to my posts on meditation, working out, anxieties, mommyhood and the like.
Seeing as the genesis of this blog was to express myself, I plan on doing just that. And yes, I am fashion obsessed but I have far more profound passions. Like, watching Magic Mike on repeat and being able to recite Dumb & Dumber backward, forward and in Pig Latin.
I guess where I’m going with this post is…my blog is one year old this week and it’s constantly evolving and I just want to share that I, too, am changing. I don’t want to conform to any “blog rules” or tried-and-true formulas because this was never my original intention. Honestly, I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum — so why be conventional now?
The crux of this post is this: I’m really trying hard to just be. And so should you! Should I choose to blog about my newest $5 earrings or how-to say I’m sorry, I trust you will accept me with open arms. Because I want this blog to have a meaning and purpose — just like me. Just like you.
I’m excited for this change! I agree I think a mix of depth and fashion is perfect!
Thanks, Brooke! Me too.
Maria you are so beautiful!!! Manifest your reality , your rajastic soul is contagious . Om shanthi Maria Ji. I am thankful to have you in my life.
Congrats on the one year and cheers to evolving! It’s a natural process. No rules needed.

Happy bday! Can you believe it’s been a year? Cray!
Happy Birthday, Wordy Girl!!!
Love this post…rings true on so many levels. And besides…fashion is not just about clothes, it’s about the way we live our lives, interpret the things we see, how we react to the good, the bad, the ugly…it’s all of that and a pair of Jimmy Choos. So I agree…express yourself (Madonna said it best)…it’s your blog and I love reading it because of that…it’s yours!
XOXO
Happy Birthday Wordy Girl!

Go ahead with the change! I love the voice of your blog and I think the topics you want to talk about are the least talked about and the ones people would like to hear more of.
