NERD ALERT: I’ve been on a reading tear this summer. My latest victim? The Accidental Empress. I ate up this New York Times bestseller during my recent trip to St. Barths and loved it because I have this thing with historical fiction novels. Author Allison Pataki takes the reader across the Atlantic (Austria, to be exact) during the 19th century.
Without divulging too much, the tome is written through the mind of a young and wonderfully rich and complex female character, Sisi, who marries the covetable Emperor Franz Joseph. Throw in an overbearing mother in law, cheating husband and royal scandals, babies and more… and you’ve a a plot that’s harder to than a jar of Nutella to put down!
I loved her first book, too.
Read into the water next!
I love book recommendations! Thank you. I just ordered.
