Did you kids know that Sir Richard Branson owns a private isle in the BVI called Necker Island? Of course you did. Because like me, you probably read US Weekly and consider it as creed. I mean, hellooo, Prince William and H.R.H. Kate honeymooned here…duh!

So yes, the famous adventurer and scion of Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Records calls this island (about one mile north of Virgin Gorda) home and it’s considered one of the world’s most luxurious retreats. Emphasis on the luxurious part.

If you’ve got $53,000, you can rent it for the day (Branson not included, though submarine with driver is). While we didn’t stay at Necker, we spent an entire day on a teensy island located just a puddle-jump away. While frolicking in the ocean, I serendipitously met one the property’s managers who told me the Balinese-inspired hideaway sleeps up to 30 adults and includes Hobie cats, BBQs on the beach, casino nights, snorkeling, paddleboarding and more. There’s also a misconception here. I was always under the impression one had to rent the entire property — but the manager tells me there are 8 “celebration weeks” during of the year when couples and singles can book individual rooms.

Giving me yet another reason to come back and play. And hopefully with Sir Richard Branson, too.
